Back to Africa & out to the uttermost parts of the earth...

In Africa French is spoken in Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Senegal, CAR, Chad, Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Rwanda, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Djibouti, Comoros, Madagascar & the Seychelles Islands.

In the uttermost parts of the earth, French is spoken in Guyana, Haiti, Polynesia, Martinique, Vanuatu, Guadeloupe, Reunion, New Caledonia, Wallis & Futuna.

There are more than 20 million Protestant and Evangelical Christians in Africa and on the Caribbean and South Pacific Islands. The economic situation in these places is dramatic. Thirteen of the twenty-five French-speaking countries in Africa have an average annual per capita income of less than $500.*

The spiritual situation is no less dramatic. "Millions have been evangelized and responded, but non-Christian customs and worldviews have invaded the Church. Syncretism is a major problem in many areas. Thorough-going repentance and renunciation of sin and the works of darkness are often lacking and many Christians are not free from the fear of witchcraft and evil spirits."*

A deeper understanding and practice of essential Christian doctrines is crucial for the African church at this point in history. Depth is achieved through a mature understanding and implementation of that knowledge within the church. The church suffers when needed resources, both spiritual and material, are withheld.

Access to resources is one of the critical bottlenecks. The poverty of the Church and lack of understanding among potential donors hampers the development of Bible study resources. Western churches need to give as freely for providing spiritual food to the starving Christians as they have done to provide for Africa’s famines.*

FEEL will efficiently bring desperately needed libraries to African pastors and key laymen who care for the spiritual needs of the many Christians there.
